Code execution via missing Field object validation
Published Aug 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in Foxit PDF Reader and PDF Editor before 11.1 and PhantomPDF before 10.1.6 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code. Field Calculate event handling performs operations on a Field object without first validating that the object still exists. Exploitation requires the target to open a malicious PDF or visit a malicious page, and resulting code runs in the current process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
