Remote code execution via stale Field object
Published Aug 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in Foxit PDF Reader, PDF Editor, and PhantomPDF allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted PDF JavaScript. A Field object's Format event performs operations after the target object ceases to exist because its existence is not validated. Affected releases are PDF Reader and PDF Editor before 11.1 and PhantomPDF before 10.1.6; a user must open a malicious file or visit a malicious page, and code runs in the current process.
