Unauthenticated account takeover via fixed reusable OTPs
Published Dec 7, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
OTP fixation in Maharashtra State Electricity Board Mahavitaran Android Application 8.20 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over accounts. The password-reset workflow associates each OTP identifier with a fixed code, allowing a code learned for that identifier to reset another user's password. No authentication or user interaction is required; exploitation grants control of the targeted Mahavitaran account.
