CVE-2021-4170Network attack vector

Browser script execution via HTML-rendered upload filename

Published Jan 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stored XSS in Calibre-Web before 0.6.15 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript by selecting a crafted upload filename. The cover and book-format selectors pass the chosen filename to jQuery's html() sink in cps/static/js/edit_books.js instead of treating it as text. An authenticated user with upload rights must select a crafted local filename; the script then runs in that user's browser context, enabling access to session-visible data and actions.
