Password disclosure via weak file permissions
Published Jun 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Incorrect access control in MELAG FTP Server 2.2.0.4 allows local users to read the FTP configuration file and recover plaintext passwords. The configuration file is readable by the Everyone group because its filesystem permissions are too broad, exposing unencrypted credentials for every FTP account. A local account with filesystem access is required; the flaw discloses credentials that can enable subsequent FTP access, but does not itself alter files.
