Authenticated filesystem disclosure via QR-code exec option
Published Sep 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper input validation in eduVPN vpn-user-portal before 2.3.14 allows remote authenticated users to read OS filesystem files via QR codes. The QR-code path passes a filesystem reference to an exec operation using the -r option without adequately restricting which files it can access. A valid portal account is required, and exposed files can enable additional VPN access without reported file modification or service interruption.
