Code execution via unconstrained project archive paths
Published Oct 4, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in mySCADA myDESIGNER 8.20.0 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to write arbitrary files through a crafted MEP project. The project importer extracts archive entries without constraining their paths to the intended destination, allowing traversal into user-writable OS locations. A user must import the malicious file; writes inherit that user's filesystem permissions and can result in code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
