CVE-2021-41562

Arbitrary file deletion via followed Windows shortcuts

Published Nov 3, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Windows shortcut following in Snow Agent for Windows 5.0.0 through 5.4.1 and 6.0.0 through 6.7.1 allows local users to delete arbitrary files. The agent resolves a crafted Windows .LNK shortcut outside its intended control sphere and performs its privileged file-deletion operation on the shortcut target. A non-administrative local account can redirect deletion to a protected file, causing integrity loss or a service interruption without user interaction.
