Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted file upload
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in OpenCATS 0.9.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code through the careers portal. FileUtility::getUploadFileFromPost accepts the client-supplied name unchanged, while makeSafeFilename relies on a bypassable extension blacklist. No authentication is required when an active job exposes the public résumé upload path, and successful exploitation runs code with the web server's privileges.
