Admin remote shell via ZIP path traversal
Published Dec 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in Siemens Teamcenter Active Workspace V4.3, V5.0, V5.1, and V5.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute an admin shell. The server extracts attacker-influenced ZIP archives without safely constraining entry paths, allowing traversal outside the intended directory and placement of files that can be executed with administrative rights. Exploitation requires access to the affected Active Workspace service and a crafted archive; successful exploitation can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the host.
