Script execution via unencoded challenge response
Published Oct 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in JustWriting 1.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary script in a victim's browser via a crafted URL. The Dropbox download action in application/controllers/dropbox.php echoes the challenge query parameter directly into the HTTP response without HTML encoding or validation. Exploitation requires a victim to open the attacker-supplied URL, after which the script runs in the JustWriting site's browser context and can read or alter browser-accessible data.
