CVE-2021-41372Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via unsanitized PBIX HTML upload

Published Nov 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 19, 2026

Cross-site scripting and request forgery in Power BI Report Server before 1.11.8091.10468 or 1.12.7977.29537 lets remote authenticated users run scripts. The server accepts a PBIX template containing HTML and serves those files directly, allowing script execution in the victim's security context; an administrator victim can be escalated. Exploitation requires an authenticated upload through the victim's session and the victim opening an embedded HTML file.
