Authenticated privilege escalation via POST parameter tampering
Published Oct 4, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in Poly VVX 400/410 5.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to reset the administrator password. The password-reset handler trusts a client-controlled POST parameter whose value can be changed to 120, causing the operation to target the Admin account. A low-privileged web-interface account is sufficient, and successful exploitation grants control of the phone's administrative credentials.
