Stored script execution via unsanitized SNMP fields
Published Sep 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Progress WhatsUp Gold before 21.1.0 allows remote attackers to execute script in a victim's browser. The discovery path stores unsanitized SNMP sysName, sysLocation, or sysContact values and renders them in the web console without neutralizing embedded HTML or JavaScript. The attacker needs an SNMP device reachable by the server, and an authenticated console user must view the discovered data; the script runs in that user's session and can create an administrator account.
