CVE-2021-4125Network attack vector

Remote code execution via retained JndiLookup classes

Published Aug 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Deserialization of untrusted data in Red Hat OpenShift Metering allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through crafted log data. The Hive image-build cleanup searched only log4j-core-named JARs before deleting org/apache/logging/log4j/core/lookup/JndiLookup.class, so copies in differently named archives remained. The affected Hive container must process attacker-controlled text through the retained Log4j lookup path; successful exploitation executes code inside that container.
