Stored script execution via unescaped client address
Published Oct 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Pi-hole Web Interface before 5.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in an administrator's browser. The add_client path accepts an ip field containing markup, stores it as a client, and renders the value without HTML encoding through groups.php and groups-clients.js. A valid administrative session and CSRF token are required to add the crafted client, and script execution depends on an administrator loading the affected management content.
