CVE-2021-41151Network attack vector

Sensitive file disclosure via unconstrained source path

Published Oct 18, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Path traversal in Backstage's Scaffolder backend 0.9.4 through 0.15.8 allows remote authenticated users to read task-host files. The publish:github:pull-request action resolved attacker-controlled sourcePath values without confining the result to the task workspace, then read matched files into a pull request. Exploitation requires permission to create and register a custom catalog template and leaves the disclosed files visible in the resulting pull request.
