Authenticated code execution via unchecked block callback
Published Jan 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Remote code execution in OpenMage LTS 19.4.21 and earlier and 20.0.0 through 20.0.18 allows remote authenticated users to execute server code. Mage_Core_Block_Abstract::getChildGroup invokes a layout-selected callback without first applying validateAgainstBlockMethodBlacklist. A valid low-privilege account and control of a layout update are required; successful exploitation runs code in the web application's server context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
