Malicious update installation via unchecked HTTP packages
Published Dec 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Update integrity failure in Listary through 6 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to install malicious content via an HTTP update. The /check-update path retrieves update packages over HTTP, and the updater does not validate package integrity before installation. Exploitation requires control of the network path during an update check and user interaction; successful substitution installs attacker-controlled content.
