Improper link resolution in WIBU CodeMeter Runtime before 7.30a allows local users to overwrite essential Windows files. The Windows service follows an attacker-created link to a special system file used with CmDongles and writes through it without validating target permissions. An unprivileged account on a machine where CodeMeter runs as a Windows service is required, and overwriting essential files can interrupt availability.
