CVE-2021-41035Network attack vector

Access-control bypass via unchecked interface dispatch

Published Oct 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper access control in Eclipse OMR before 0.29.0 allows attackers to invoke inaccessible interface methods through OpenJ9. OpenJ9's InterfaceHandle dispatch accepted a non-public callee without raising the IllegalAccessError required for interface invocation. Attacker-controlled Java code must reach the affected MethodHandles.Lookup.findVirtual path; successful invocation bypasses the JVM's intended method-access boundary.
