Reflected XSS via unencoded firstname apostrophe
Published Oct 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in Spotweb 1.5.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser via firstname input. The step-004.inc.php installer template places the firstname value inside a single-quoted HTML attribute after htmlspecialchars leaves apostrophes unencoded. Exploitation requires completed database configuration, an exposed step-four installer page, and a user who submits the crafted form and clicks the injected field; execution remains in that user's browser context.
