Browser script execution via unescaped password confirmation
Published Oct 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in Spotweb 1.5.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to run script in a victim's browser via newpassword2. The installer step-4 template writes the POSTed value into a single-quoted value attribute after htmlspecialchars() without quote encoding, so an injected quote adds an event handler. The installer must remain reachable, and a victim must submit the crafted form and interact with the rendered field; successful exploitation acts in that victim's browser context.
