Authenticated privilege escalation via plaintext password exposure
Published Dec 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in Auerswald COMpact 5500R before 8.2B allows remote authenticated users to obtain sub-admin access. The teilnehmer_profil_einzel_state endpoint accepts passwd=1 and returns another account's normally masked password in plaintext. A low-privileged PBX account and web-management access are required; exposed sub-admin credentials grant configuration access and most PBX functions.
