Local privilege escalation via privileged Notepad launch
Published Oct 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in AnyDesk before 6.2.6 and 6.3.x before 6.3.3 allows local users to obtain administrator privileges. The Open Chat Log feature starts Notepad with elevated rights, and that privileged process can launch other applications without dropping those rights. A low-privileged Windows session is required; successful use permits arbitrary applications to run with administrator privileges.
