Unauthenticated lighting control via unchanged default key
Published Sep 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Default-key exposure in Acuity Brands nLight ECLYPSE firmware before 1.17.21245.754 allows remote attackers to alter lighting. The controller leaves the SensorView or Gateway communication key unchanged after initial configuration, so the shared default unlocks encrypted control messages. IP reachability and an unchanged key are required; accepted commands can change lighting conditions or update lighting-device software but cannot reconfigure the controller.
