CVE-2021-40703

Code execution via out-of-bounds M4A parsing

Published Sep 27, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Out-of-bounds memory access in Adobe Premiere Elements 2021.2235820 and earlier allows attackers to execute code via a malicious M4A file. Its M4A parser accesses memory beyond the end of a buffer while handling crafted file content, corrupting memory used by the application. A user must open the file, after which code runs with that user’s privileges on Windows or macOS.
