Process crash via crafted AVC NAL unit
Published Jan 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Null pointer dereference in GPAC through 1.0.1 allows local users to crash MP4Box by having it parse a crafted AVC file. The naludmx_parse_nal_avc function in reframe_nalu.c dereferences a null pointer while parsing attacker-controlled AVC NAL-unit data. Exploitation requires a user or automated workflow to invoke MP4Box on the supplied file, terminating that MP4Box process.
