CVE-2021-40418Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via uninitialized UUID object

Published Dec 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Uninitialized-variable use in DaVinci Resolve 17.3.1.0005 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted R3D decoding job. The R3D SDK leaves a UUID-object property uninitialized when a parsed identifier differs from the expected value, then dereferences its arbitrary virtual-method-table pointer during destruction. The DPDecoder service must be reachable, and successful exploitation runs code in the service's application context.
