Code execution via unchecked macro-variable array index
Published Dec 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Gerbv 2.7.0 and development commits b5f1eacd and 71493260 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted Gerber file. In simplify_aperture_macro, numeric variable names index the fixed-size lp parameter array without bounds checks during PPOP assignments. Processing the file through the GUI or command-line exporter is sufficient; a malicious negative index writes attacker-selected double data outside the array, causing a crash or arbitrary code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
