CVE-2021-40356Network attack vector

Unauthenticated file disclosure via XML entity expansion

Published Sep 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

XML External Entity Injection in Siemens Teamcenter V12.4, V13.0, V13.1 and V13.2 allows remote attackers to read server files. The XML parser accepts attacker-controlled external entity declarations and resolves them against the application server filesystem, exposing file contents through the affected application interface. Exploitation requires network reachability to the Teamcenter service and no authentication; impact is limited to confidentiality of readable server files, with no demonstrated modification or service interruption.
