User account takeover via unverified password changes
Published Nov 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Incorrect permissions in the Dashboard of Concrete CMS before 8.5.7 allow remote authenticated users with administrator privileges to reset passwords. The change-password action accepts a new password for a selected account without revalidating the acting administrator's current password. Administrative Dashboard access is required; a compromised privileged session can reset another account's password and take control of that account.
