IFAA crash via unchecked certificate field lengths
Published Mar 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack buffer overflow in affected Huawei EMUI, Magic UI, and HarmonyOS releases allows remote attackers to crash IFAA via a crafted certificate parcel. The parcel_read_ifaa_cert parser copies attacker-controlled modulus, exponent, and signature lengths into fixed 256-byte stack fields without bounds checks. The path requires a malicious parcel on an affected Huawei device, and the published proof of concept terminates the IFAA process through the stack canary.
