Remote device crash via Samba boundary overflow
Published Jan 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Buffer overflow in Huawei HarmonyOS and EMUI allows remote attackers to crash affected smartphones through the Samba file-management server. The server mishandles a boundary while processing file-management input and performs an unchecked buffer copy, but Huawei does not name the request field or function. No authentication or user interaction is required, and a successful request interrupts device availability.
