Out-of-bounds access via unchecked audio parameters
Published Feb 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper input validation in Huawei EMUI 12.0.0's VprTa audio component allows remote attackers to cause out-of-bounds memory access. GmmLoadModels accepts an unchecked model type, while InitGetScoreParams uses an unchecked feature count in an allocation calculation and GmmGetScore dereferences an unchecked result. The commands receive parameters from a normal-world client application, and demonstrated proofs of concept crash the trusted application.
