CVE-2021-39884Network attack vector

Private group disclosure via unprotected endpoint

Published Oct 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper authorization in GitLab EE 8.13 through 14.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to disclose private group names via a project endpoint. The autocomplete/project_groups.json endpoint returns names of private groups shared with a project without enforcing the visibility restriction for Developer-level and lower project members. Access requires membership in the project, and the demonstrated impact is limited to confidentiality of private group names without data modification or service interruption.
