Arbitrary code execution via AcroForm buttonGetIcon use-after-free
Published Sep 29, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Use-after-free in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC through 2021.005.20060 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a malicious PDF. The AcroForm buttonGetIcon action operates on a freed field object without validating that the object still exists, letting crafted document data redirect execution. Exploitation requires a victim to open the malicious file, and code executes with the current user's privileges.
