Side-channel information disclosure in Android 12L Media Framework allows local users to determine whether a targeted app is installed. The Media Framework exposes an observable response difference to app-presence probes even when the calling app lacks package-query permission; Google has not published the exact code locus. A locally running app with ordinary execution access can learn installation state without user interaction, but no content from the targeted app is disclosed.
