Local privilege escalation via denied permission restoration
Published Mar 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Permission bypass in Android 12 Permission Controller allows local users to gain privileges denied by the device user without interaction. RoleParser.java's parse logic grants default applications permissions that the device user explicitly denied. Exploitation requires code running as a default application, needs no user interaction, and elevates that application's permission set.
