Local privilege escalation via touchscreen command bounds check
Published Dec 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
An out-of-bounds write in Android kernel sec_ts_parsing_cmds allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges. The function applies an incorrect bounds check while parsing touchscreen commands, permitting a write beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges on a Pixel device and no user interaction; the resulting kernel corruption affects confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
