Local code execution via UpdateServer path traversal
Published Dec 16, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Path traversal in the UpdateServer component of Bitdefender GravityZone before 3.3.8.272 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. Bitdefender identifies the productManager UpdateServer.KitsManager API but has not disclosed which pathname operation fails to restrict attacker-controlled input. Local access is required, with no prior privileges or user interaction, and successful exploitation executes code across a security boundary.
