swfdump crash via null metadata string
Published Sep 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in SWFTools through 20200710 allows local users to crash swfdump by processing a crafted SWF file. The parse_metadata function passes a null metadata string to strdup at abc.c line 91 while swfdump parses the malformed file. User interaction is required to supply the file; the demonstrated consequence is termination of the swfdump process.
