Process crash via traits_dump NULL dereference
Published Sep 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in swftools through 20200710 allows local users to crash swfdump by processing a crafted SWF file. The traits_dump() routine in abc.c dereferences a null pointer while swfdump dumps ActionScript bytecode from the input, producing a segmentation fault. Opening the crafted file with swfdump's -D option is required; the demonstrated impact is termination of swfdump, not system-wide unavailability.
