Process crash via type3D1 null dereference
Published Sep 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in SWFTools through 20200710 allows local users to crash pdf2swf by processing a crafted PDF file. InfoOutputDev::type3D1() dereferences a null pointer in InfoOutputDev.cc while pdf2swf parses the supplied document, producing a segmentation fault. Exploitation requires a user to run pdf2swf on the crafted file; the demonstrated consequence is process termination without data disclosure or modification.
