Browser script execution via unescaped asset tag
Published Nov 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Snipe-IT 5.3.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run script via a crafted asset tag. The bulk asset-audit error path in AssetsController concatenates the asset_tag request value into its JSON message without HTML escaping. A logged-in user must submit a nonexistent tag and induce another user to render the returned message, exposing that user's session context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
