Browser script execution via unsanitized captcha responses
Published Aug 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
DOM-based XSS in ReCaptcha Solver 5.7 allows remote attackers controlling a supported captcha service to execute script in a user's browser. A malicious service response reaches setCaptchaCode(), which inserts the returned string into the DOM as HTML without sanitization. Exploitation requires interaction with a supported third-party captcha service and permits browser-context data access and page modification.
