Man-in-the-middle disclosure via disabled TLS verification
Published Aug 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper certificate validation in GNOME libgda 6.0.0 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read web-provider traffic. gda_web_provider_open_connection creates its worker and front SoupSession objects without enabling the system CA store, so HTTPS peers are not authenticated. Exploitation requires an attacker on the network path while the web provider uses HTTPS; the established impact is confidential-data exposure only.
