Stored script execution via unsanitized settings parameters
Published Oct 15, 2021 · Updated Mar 31, 2025
Stored XSS in HAL 2.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to inject scripts through plugin settings. The wp-hal.php settings handler stores the Type of Id, Phone, Expiration cache, and other parameters without sufficient validation or sanitization. The issue is reachable when unfiltered_html is disabled, including on multisite installations, and the injected code executes in browsers that render the saved settings.
