Memory corruption via oversized WEP authentication challenge
Published Dec 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack buffer overflow in Realtek RTL8195AM before 2.0.10 allows physically proximate attackers to corrupt memory via WEP authentication. The WEP client authentication code accepts oversized challenge text into a fixed-size stack buffer without enforcing its capacity. The target must operate as a WEP client within wireless range; published sources establish memory corruption but no more specific outcome.
