Authenticated code execution via unallowlisted archive class
Published Aug 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Code injection in OrbiTeam BSCW Classic before 7.4.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code during archive extraction. The bs_extract.py createArtifact method resolves the .bscw metadata class attribute to a callable without an allowlist and invokes it with attacker-controlled bscw:name data. A low-privileged account with folder write access can upload and extract a crafted archive, causing commands to run under the BSCW web-service account.
